Fantasy Baseball News Update: August 1st, 2013

It is always fun to do a little fantasy baseball news update.

While fantasy football is all the rage this time of year, and I’m not one to go against the machine, you’ve got to face it – fake baseball playoffs are right around the corner and my most important football drafts are still weeks away.

Lets look at last night’s action twitter style.

Wild and kind of funny that the Red Sox just landed a starter in a deal with the Tigers, who have Victor Martinez.

If you didn’t know, the Red Soxs flipped Masterson and others for VMart just over 4 years ago. Anyway, Masterson is settling in and after a blazing start, looked to be fading.

Before we get too carried away though, this start was against the South Siders; still, he has 13 wins, a solid ERA and WHIP and the strikeouts are adding up quickly.

So, while everyone else is making the Fish stink, Harvey is just being a nice guy. I get it.

If he had some run support, he’d be leading the NL in wins. I didn’t look into it at all, or do any research, it is just a hunch.

My brother dealt him recently in a league we’re in, it was a multiplayer deal where he essentially got David Price. Irrelevant perhaps, but it’d be tough to watch a kid go 8 strong every trip to the bump and end up with no-decision after no-decision.

Well it can’t be any worse than trading away Will Myers. I win.

Yu only has 10 wins, but at one point it looked like he was going to run away with the AL Cy Young.

In other Rangers’ news, A.J. Pierzynski stole a base and hit a bomb. Pretty good pitch and catch combo in Arlington last night.

After the Funky Cold Medina, that is the nifty’ist thing I’ve heard today. But he isn’t worth a fake baseball roster spot folks… or is he?

And as I was browsing the box scores I thought to myself: “holy willikers Billy Butler has 55 RBIs already! That’s a lot.” … Think again, brain.

And went 2-4 tonight, with 2 runs, a RBI and a stolen base. Only Bob has him beat in the world of Seagers.

Upton only has 18 on the season? Didn’t he hit 14 in the first 3 weeks of the season?

Really? It looked to me like the Dodgers won over Lake Rizzo.

And I’ll leave you with this … thanks for checking out the fantasy baseball news, Twitter style.
