Mikey O Knows – Week 4 fringe starters worth a look

Welcome to this Week 4 edition of Mikey O Knows. Bye-weeks have begun! So I hope to help you find some alternative replacements and with any tough line-up decisions you may have to give you the edge this week! Every move counts…

Bilal Powell – RB – vs. @Tennessee (Photo Cred: Jim Rogash/Getty Images.)

Bilal Powell – RB – New York Jets (@ Tennessee)

Bilal Powell is making a name for himself this NFL season. Chris Ivory can’t seem to stay healthy and is OUT for this week’s matchup against the Titans, so the Jets will ride Powell in Nashville. Powell set career bests last week versus the Bills with 27 carries and 149 yards rushing on the day showing a nice combination of power and elusiveness. His 226 yards through three games are second in the AFC!

The Titans defense is a bit stiffer than the Bills, but they’ve given up back to back 100 yard performances on the ground. It’s hard to find many backs who get 20+ touches a week – so ride the Powell train until it slows down and I don’t think it’ll be this week! Expect around 20 carries for 105 yards.

Jason Snelling – RB- Atlanta Falcons (vs. New England Patriots)

Speaking of trains: this one is taking off fast so you better run and get on or it’ll be gone! (Sorry for all the train references, that was the last one!) I mentioned Snelling in my “Not Too Shabby Start of the Week” last Sunday and he more than delivered. With Steven Jackson likely out until week 7 and perhaps even longer, Snelling has been given a glorious opportunity here to shine. Snelling garnered 53 rushing yards on 11 carries while adding four receptions for 58 yards and a touchdown against Miami. He’s great for PPR leagues, he;s a reliable back for Atlanta and is in for a great start this week facing a poor Patriots defense.

New England’s passing defense ranks 24th so expect another decent dose of Jason Snelling this Sunday Night. He’ll probably hover around the 15 touch range in rushes and receptions, totalling about 90 yards while grabbing another goal-line TD!

Aaron Dobson – WR – New England Patriots (@ Atlanta Falcons)

Same game, different player. Speaking of poor defenses, the Atlanta Falcons defense is hurting right now and we should be in store for quite an entertaining Sunday Night at the Georgia Dome. The Falcons D has been giving up 296 passing yards per game… I’ll take the over! Aaron Dobson has been looking pretty good out there and is developing some chemistry with Tom Brady, and Rob Gronkowski and Danny Amendola have been ruled out for this matchup ,so Dobson should be in line for a solid amount of looks. Despite Kenbrell Thompkins‘ great fantasy day scoring two touchdowns, Dobson played much better last week and led the team with 10 targets and 7 catches.

Dobson is a pretty good start this week especially with those of you filling in your bye weeks. I’m expecting an 8 catch 80 yard night with hopefully a score to put him over the top.

Coby Fleener – TE – Indianapolis Colts (@ Jacksonville Jaguars)

Lost amidst the huge trade that sent Trent Richardson to the Colts was the fact that tight end Dwayne Allen has been lost for the season… step right up Coby Fleener! The Stanford connection is set to take off with Allen out, and I expect the duo to put up some strong numbers for the rest of this season. Or I should say trio, as the OC Pep Hamilton, QB Andrew Luck and TE Fleener are all bringing their Stanford expertise to Indy. Pretty smart school over there, so I’m all in! Fleener is a great option this week against the lowly Jags. Heck, it might even feel like a college game for these Colts. Zach Miller scored twice against these Jags last week, and I expect Fleener to hit paydirt at least once. The Colts receiving corps is a bit banged up besides Reggie Wayne, so Fleener has a great shot to succeed here.

Caleb Sturgis – K- Miami Dolphins (@ New Orleans Saints)

Don’t you just hate it when your Kicker delivers a one or two point performance? I can’t stand it! And then of course your opponents puts up 10+ points, guaranteed… really gets my blood boiling! Time to roll with Sturgis and the Miami Dolphins… I’m a believer in Ryan Tannehill and this Dolphins offense who have gotten off to a hot 3-0 start! One of the main beneficiaries? Sturgis! One thing that is always a must to check for Kickers is the weather. Sturgis plays in a nice warm climate which is a check for me (unless it rains), and this week he’s in a dome – another check! I don’t see the Dolphins winning this one as New Orleans is a a very tough place to play, but I see them putting up 20+ points with a couple stalled drives involving Sturgis bailing the team out.

Shopping at the five and dime – Not Too Shabby Start of the Week!

Mohamed Sanu – WR- Cincinnati Bengals – (@ Cleveland Browns)

Mohamed-Sanu-Cincinnati-BengalsMohamed Sanu do you do? Sanu is owned in just 3% of Yahoo leagues, and while he hasn’t done anything eye-popping yet he’s been a steady producer for the solid Cincinnati Bengals. He’s hauled in at least four receptions in every game and has become a viable #2 receiver opposite AJ Green in Cinci. Last week against the Packers, Sanu caught four passes for 68 yards (better production than AJ Green – minus the TD of course). In the last two weeks, Sanu has been targeted 13 times, and he’s regarded as a promising receiver in the league – his time may be quickly approaching. Pick him up if you’re thin at receiver and he can be a decent bye-week fill in. With Joe Haden locked in on Green this week, I like Sanu to snag a TD if you’re lucky, and also receive 5-6 catches for 80 yards. Something I like to call Not too Shabby!

Good Luck! Any thoughts/opinions? Feel free to comment below!

I know I’m late but whose a better start at flex and which defence to stream. Lamar Miller or Darren Sproles. Also do I go with the titan or saints defence. Thank you very much
