Nov. 1st, 2013 Draft Street Fantasy Basketball Picks
F, LeBron James, Miami Heat – $22,490: I’m paying for the best player in the world, no question. LeBron tends to bring his best game against Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett. This is a new rivalry now, Nets and Heat. James will take over this game, making sure his Heat avoid a second straight loss.
F, Miles Plumlee, Phoenix Suns – $9,500: The Suns are thin at the center position. Plumlee played 40 minutes in the season opener. He had a double-double by half finishing with 18 points on 8/14 shooting while grabbing 15 rebounds.
F, Boris Diaw, San Antonio Spurs – $6,655: Diaw had 14 points in the Spurs first game, 12 came when he entered the game for an injured Tim Duncan. Duncan won’t suit up tonight because of a concussion, so I’ll take a flyer on Diaw getting more minutes tonight.
G, Damian Lillard, Portland Trail Blazzers – $14,110: Lillard has been given the green light to shoot, shoot and shoot some more. He jacked up 20 shots in his first game, 12 from beyond the arc. Lillard finished with 32 points. Expect about 26 points and 6 assists from the former Rookie of the Year tonight against the Nuggets.
G, Michael Carter-Williams, Philadelphia 76ers – $10, 875: I believed in MCW before the season started, and his first game in the association has me buying him tonight. Of course Carter-Williams probably won’t put up the same numbers (22 points, 12 assists, 7 rebounds and 9 steals) tonight, but if he does half of that, I’ll be happy.
G, Vince Carter, Dallas Mavericks – $8,960: Will Vince Carter score 21 a game? No, he won’t, but Vince looked fresh and showed Vinsanity hops in the opener. He seems to have an early connection with Calderon. He will reach double digit points, while knocking down a couple three’s.
C, Dwight Howard, Houston Rockets – $19,150: Howard had a monster debut with Houston putting up 48 Draft Street Points. I do not expect 17 points and 26 rebounds a night, but he should own the glass again tonight against Dallas. Marc Cuban said earlier this week it was a mistake for D12 to not sign with the Mavs, all the more for Dwight to show him and Dallas up.
U, Alec Burks, Utah Jazz – $8,135: With Trey Burke out, Alec will continue to get a lot of playing time. He scored 24 points on 8/16 shooting in the opener, with six boards and six assists. Burks played 32 minutes and also finished the night 8/9 from the line. Get used to those kind of performances.
